How do I implement the ad tag?

Last Updated: Apr 03, 2017 10:52PM UTC
GumGum ads are served through a JavaScript tag. The tag can be placed directly in the footer of your website's HTML or loaded through an ad server.

Depending on how your website is set up, we have two types of tags you could use:
  • -Standard Code: This is a simple JavaScript tag that is hardcoded directly in your website's markup. Use this tag if you host your own site and do not have an ad server (such as DFP). Publishers like this tag because it is plain and easy to debug.
  • -Ad Server Ready/Async Code: Use the Ad Server Ready/Async Code if you have an ad server. With its asynchronous execution, this tag type does not increase your website's loading time. If you do not have an ad server, you can still use this tag type by setting it up directly in your website markup. We recommend this tag because it works from both the markup and an ad server. Even if you do not use an ad server yet, this tag is a great option since you will not need a new tag should you use an ad server in the future.

To find your GumGum codes, log into Publisher Center and go to Main Menu > Zones > click on the zone name.

To implement the Standard Code, insert the tag immediately above the closing <body> tag (this is usually located in the <footer> section of the HTML). You can find the closing <body> tag in the HTML by searching for </body>. Save your changes and republish your site.

If you have a WordPress site, from their dashboard, click on Appearance > Editor. Open the footer.php file and paste our JavaScript tag directly above the closing </body> tag.

To implement our Ad Server Ready/Async Code through an ad server, please set up a 1 x 1 ad call in your ad server to load our JavaScript.
